Study - Antique Coffee Grinder

"Zassenhaus" - 6" x 6" - oil on cradled hardboard panel - SOLD

My neighbor, Anne, has an enormous collection of antiques. I believe I've mentioned this before when using other items belonging to her as props for past paintings. This Zassenhaus coffee grinder is among them, one she brought with her from her homeland, Germany, many decades ago. There were even grounds left in the tray when she handed it to me for photographing. I asked how long since she'd last used it for its intended purpose. She blinked a few times and said, very casually, "Um, about 30 years?" "So, you won't be needing these grounds, then?" "Not unless I want to be sick, no."

You don't want to be sick, and this is just lovely. Although it would lok great in my kitchen my husband will kill me if I order anything else.

Love your work!!!

Hell, All! And thank you. :o) I really enjoyed this one. Took me nearly a month to paint, on and off between all the holiday hoopla, but I had a great time doing it.

You have done a beautiful job on the light reflections on both the metal and the wood. Makes me want to reach for the handle and grind some coffee.
