It's been awhile since I've painted apples....

18" x 18" - oil on canvas

....so I thought I'd give it another go. Probably because I've been eating so many apples lately. Green apples are my favorite. But I bought some red ones to make a composition. The large glass bowl you see them in above is the actual bowl I keep my apples in, perched on my dining room table. I like the way the light comes into the dining room and casts pretty shadows with the bowl. And, since I like it so much, I decided to paint it.

*****UPDATE on the missing shipment from the other week - it has finally arrived back to me and will be reshipped through another carrier. (grumble, curse, mumble...but, hey. At least it's back and not lost forever) Thanks to all who shared their own horror stories and offered well wishes and prayers for it's safe return.*****

i can't believe it's taken this long for that painting to make it's way back to you! but at least you got it back. i still think the buyer will think it's more than worth the wait.

Yay! Glad it made it back to you. Fingers crossed for the next go around.
The apples are beautiful. There's a mysterious quality to them. I love the two outside the bowl waiting to get in (or maybe taking a break from the crowd).

Hi Jelaine,
Glad the lost canvas has made its way back home... you could make a movie of the adventures of the lost canvas, traveling the world, trying to find its way back and having near death experiences - could be a big hit! Especially with the mommy artist at home, crying and searching for it on the phone and internet tracking system. Okay - I got a bit carried away here... I really wanted to say that this painting is spectacular. I especially am drawn to each place where the glow from the red apples appears, and the refracted light on the tablecloth. Absolutely stunning.

Wow, Jelaine. I was beginning to wonder if you had fallen off the planet. I have only myself to blame for anxiously checking your blog each morning to see new work. This piece makes the wait worth while. The apples are stunning (I used to only like green apples until I discovered organic Gala apples, now I can never go back). I really like the bowl, it's so clear and realistic. The shadows it casts are mezmorising.
Have a great day.

peace,
harold

Hi Jelaine! I love all your work but this one in particular will definitely keep the doctor away. The light and colours of those apples are so crisp, not to mention the glass. Beautiful. Well done!

Simply Stunning!!! The color, composition and your light and shading couldn't be more perfect.

My paintings are still lost, it's been a nightmare. Glad you're finally showed up.
